Etymology

Borrowed from Hindi झटका (jhaṭkā, “sudden movement, jerking”) or Punjabi ਝਟਕਾ (jhaṭkā), from Sanskrit झटिति (jhatiti, “immediately, at once”). Not related to Slovak jatka (“slaugherhouse”).
