Etymology

Analogous to Ancient Greek μελαγχολία (melankholía), from mall (longing), originally meaning "black" and ngjej, archaic variant of ngjyrë (color), from Proto-Albanian *en-glejo. Alternatively from Latin malum angere.[1]
