- The Midland merged with the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway on July 1 1903, to form the Midland Railway (Northern Counties Commission). This semi-autonomous organisation became the LMS (NCC) after Grouping in 1923 and then, upon Nationalisation on January 1 1948, the Railway Executive (NCC).
