Inherited from Ottoman Turkish سلاحلندرمق,[1] or سلاحلندیرمق (silaḥlandırmaḳ, to make or let arm)[2] from سلاح (silaḥ), equivalent to silah + -la + -n + -dır + -mak. Cognates with Azerbaijani silahlandırmaq.
