talihsizlik
Turkish
Alternative forms
- talisizlik
Etymology
Equivalent to talih + -siz + -lik. While Arabic ayin became silent in most Turkish borrowings, the ayin at the end of طَالِع (ṭāliʕ, “luck”) became a consonant h in some dialects.
