toamnă
Romanian
Etymology
Inherited from Latin autumnus, with a change in gender as with iarnă through analogy with vară or primăvară, possibly through an intermediate aphaeretic Vulgar Latin *tumna, with the rare lowering of stressed -u- into -o- and subsequent diphthongization. Compare Aromanian toamnã.
