- (ornithology) (Gypaetus barbatus) large vulture, native to the Mediterranean region where it is found in mountainous and rugged areas, it reaches more than one meter in length, with a wingspan of about three meters and has brown plumage, lighter on the chest and undersides and darker on the wings; gypaetus, bone breaker
- (Brazil, ornithology) name by which the osprey (Pandion haliaetus) is also known, when it is a juvenile
