Learnedly, from mediaeval Byzantine Greek ἀπολαμβάνω (apolambánō), a coinciding form from the ancient verbs ἀπολαύω (apolaúō) and ἀπολαμβάνω (apolambánō).[1] By surface analysis, απο- (apo-, intensified) + λαμβάνω (lamváno, get).
