Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀦𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀘𑁄𑀟𑁂𑀤𑀺 (*niccoḍedi), from Sanskrit *निश्चोटयति (niścoṭayati), from निस्- (nis-, out) + चुट् (cuṭ, to cut off).[1]
