From corruption of เจ้าพระคุณ (jâao-prá-kun), from เจ้า (jâao, “lord”) +‎ พระ (prá, “divine”) +‎ คุณ (kun, “grace”), literally “lord of divine grace”. Further corrupted as เจ้าประคู้น (jâao-bprà-kúun).
