Etymology
From Angkorian Old Khmer kralā homa, kralā homma (literally “court of sacrifices; sacrificial ground”), from kralā (“court; courtyard; ground; etc”) + homa, homma (“sacrifice; sacrificial ceremony”), itself from Sanskrit होम (homa, “oblation”), referring to the precinct of a fire worship ceremony held before marching to war. Cognate with Modern Thai กลาโหม (gà-laa-hǒom).
