Resultant noun from Proto-Slavic *loskati (to slap, to bash), either of expressive origin related to Etymology 2 or possibly from *logъ + *-skъ (as per Горох.ua). Compare Bulgarian разло́г (razlóg, hollow), Russian лог (log, ravine), ложби́на (ložbína, depression).
